Marwan Allam is a Tunisian bassist, composer, and bandleader based in New York City. A multi–award-winning artist, he studied Jazz at the Prins Claus Conservatory in the Netherlands and has since built an international career bridging cultures through music.
Marwan has performed at renowned venues and festivals around the world, including the Cairo Jazz Festival (Egypt), Hammamet, Tabarka, and Carthage Festivals (Tunisia), Haskovo Jazz Festival (Bulgaria), Jazz Station Brussels (Belgium), Swingin’ Groningen (Netherlands), the National Theater of Seoul (Korea), the Mediterranean Jazz Festival (USA), and the Rainforest World Music Festival (Malaysia).
He has shared the stage with world-renowned artists such as pianists Marc Cary and Tarek Yammani, guitarist Freddie Bryant, vocalist Liz Rosa, saxophonists Jay Rattman and Jure Pukl, drummer Ari Hoenig, and trumpeter Amir ElSaffar, among others.
In New York City, Marwan has performed at iconic venues including Smoke Jazz Club, Mezzrow, Zinc Bar, The Django, Smalls, Joe’s Pub, Roulette Brooklyn, and Bar LunÀtico.
In the summer of 2024, Marwan released his debut album Bab Bhar, a project that explores the intersection of jazz with North African and Arabo-Andalusian musical traditions. He has also recorded with artists such as Ben Zweig and the Big Beet Project, vocalist Laura Elkeslassy on Ya Ghorbati, and guitarist James Labrosse on the Docklands EP.
